Our story
Our story
For years, New Yorker founders Nate Adler and Rachel Jackson dreamed of opening a true tavern: the kind of place that sits at the center of neighborhood life, equally suited for a quick drink, a long dinner, or an impromptu celebration. Through a distinctly “Jew-ish” lens—less about strict tradition than heritage, hospitality, and a sense of belonging—Trudie’s celebrates the food, culture, and community that shaped its founders.
Opened in 2026, Trudie’s represents the most ambitious expression of that vision to date, brought to life alongside Chef de Cuisine Eli Friedman. Drawing inspiration from New York’s most beloved watering holes, it was created to be the kind of restaurant people build new rituals around.
Why a ‘tavern’?
Why a ‘tavern’?
Historically, the “tavern” has been a place to gather over food, drink, and conversation. Following in the traditions of New York’s great taverns, Trudie’s seeks to be a community space equally suited for a classic cocktail at the bar and a full-blown celebratory meal.
